In view of Mahashivaratri, more than three lakh madar garlands reached flower markets from Kolkata on Thursday. Outside merchants made purchases. Local buyers were less visible. Along with madar, the price of marigold garland had also increased. There was a gain of about 40 percent. The prices of Velpatra, Datura, Kund lar, rose increased by up to 50 percent. Flowers grow faster with love.
Madar, Velpatra and Dhatura are also dear to Lord Shiva in flowers. Its demand increases on Maharashivratri. Due to non-availability of madar crop in Banaras, traders are ordering it from Kolkata. On Thursday, more than three lakh madar flowers were brought from there by various trains. The merchants of Purvanchal bought other flowers including Madar. The wholesale traders of Englishia Line flower markets estimate that on Friday also more than three lakh madar garlands will come from Kolkata, which will be sent to the surrounding districts. Traders Santosh Pal, Ishwarchandra and Firoz Vishwas told that the demand for flowers has increased due to Shivratri and passion. Big marigold garlands were sold in bulk for two to three thousand rupees a hundred, small ones for four to five hundred rupees a hundred. Velpatra was sold for 150 rupees and Dhatura for 250 rupees per kg. The garland of roses was very expensive. It was three to four thousand rupees a hundred. While the rose flower was sold for three hundred rupees per kg and the linden was sold for four hundred rupees.
Inward increased due to good crop
Due to the failure of the flower crop during the Corona period, the farmers had reduced its cultivation last year, but now due to the increase in its cultivation, the production has also increased. That’s why every flower cultivation is good. Farmer Ram Singh of Sindhora and Awadhesh Maurya of Lohta told that the weather is also favorable for flowers. That’s why the crop is good. Garlands of marigold buds are being sold at high prices.
